Understanding disability in your workplace

Woman taking notes during a conversationOne in five Australians lives with disability. This includes physical and intellectual disability as well as a range of mental health issues. So the chances are that Australian organisations of all sizes—from local small businesses to multinational corporations—will have people with disability working in their teams.

It is important to remember that, in many cases, disability will have no impact on a person’s capability to do a particular job. In many other instances, people with disability will require only minor adjustments to do a job as well as, or better than, other employees.
