Shape your National Disability Employment Strategy

19 April 2021

Public consultation on the National Disability Employment Strategy (Employment Strategy) is now open.

The Australian Government is developing a National Disability Employment Strategy to address the disadvantage experienced by people with disability looking for work.

The Employment Strategy will be a ten-year commitment to improve the employment outcomes for people with disability, supporting more jobseekers with disability into long term, meaningful employment.

The Employment Strategy will be a key element of the Government addressing the National Disability Strategy commitment to increase employment and economic inclusion for people with disability.

Through the Employment Strategy the Government is looking to make meaningful changes to the way supports to jobseekers with disability are delivered, and empower employers to confidently recruit people with disability.

To inform the development of the Employment Strategy, Government is seeking your feedback and ideas on how we can achieve meaningful change.

Your feedback is essential to help Government ensure the Employment Strategy focuses on the issues that matter most to all Australians and is well designed to achieve positive outcomes.

How can you get involved?

A consultation paper has been published on DSS Engage outlining the proposed vision and priority areas, key findings and suggested actions.

Everyone is invited to have their say – whether you are a person living with disability, carer, service provider, teacher, career counsellor, employer or member of the community – everyone’s voice matters!

For more information, visit the consultation website at DSS Engage – www.engage.dss.gov.au to read the consultation paper and find out how you can make a submission.

Submissions close 9am (AEST) 17 May 2021.
