Free support to find or keep a job

Are you looking for a new job? Do you need some support in your current job?

Our JobAccess Advisers will help you find the support you need. They can put you in contact with Australian Government employment service providers. This is a national network of organisations dedicated to helping people with disability find jobs.

Here are some types of organisations that can help you.

Disability Employment Services

Providers of Disability Employment Services are called DES providers for short. These providers are specialists at helping people with disability, injuries or health conditions get ready to look for a job, find a job, and keep a job.

If you're already employed and are having trouble fulfilling the essential requirements of your job due to an injury, disability or health condition, you can seek Work Assist support from a DES provider. A DES provider can work with you and your employer or just you, to help keep you in a job.

Workforce Australia

Workforce Australia Employment Services Providers help all Australians – including those with disability - to find a job in the open labour market.

You may be able to manage your own job search efforts through Workforce Australia Online.

Workforce Australia Employment Services Providers assist job seekers who would benefit from in-person support.

To find a Workforce Australia provider near you, go to our list of Workforce Australia providers, contact Centrelink on 13 28 50 or visit your nearest Centrelink office

Community Development Program (CDP)

You can search for a CDP provider in your local area on the Workforce Australia website.

Supported Employment

Supported employment is when businesses employ mostly people with disability and support them in their job. Supported employees are usually people who work in Australian Disability Enterprises (ADEs).

All over Australia, ADEs provide work as varied as catering, gardening, building furniture, printing, packaging and lots more. ADEs design jobs around the individual abilities of people with disability and provide workplace modifications to accommodate their workforce.

Funding for supported employment provided by ADEs is gradually transitioning to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). NDIS planners can incorporate employment supports into NDIS plans if it is reasonable and necessary to do so.

If you want to find an ADE or learn more about supported employment visit the BuyAbility website.
