National Disability Advocacy Program

The Australian Government provides funding to advocacy organisations across Australia to provide advocacy services on issues affecting the daily lives of people with disabilities.

The National Disability Advocacy Program aims to enable people with disabilities to achieve and maintain their rights as citizens, involving their families wherever possible and appropriate, and to improve their access to and participation in community life.  The program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs—see Related Links.

Under the Commonwealth State Territory Disability Agreement, the planning, policy setting and management of advocacy services is a responsibility of both the Australian and state and territory governments.
