National Disability Recruitment Coordinator

If you are a large employer who employs more than 100 people, help is available to make it easier for you to recruit people with disability and to access support services including on the job support and employer incentives.

The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator also offers a point of contact for all employers looking for advice on the recruitment of people with disability. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator is able to link you with Disability Employment Services providers and help you establish a working relationship with them.

The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator works with large employers and Disability Employment Services providers to:

  • provide up to date information about the recruitment of people with disability and any related assistance
  • develop and enhance disability employment strategies
  • develop job vacancies for people with disability
  • broadcast job vacancies
  • match suitable job seekers to job vacancies
  • promote the employment of people with disability.

Role of the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator

If you are a large employer, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator can work with you to develop a Memorandum of Understanding to commit to increasing your recruitment of people with disability. As job vacancies or opportunities arise in your business, you are able to provide details to the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator then broadcasts the job vacancies to all the Disability Employment Services providers in your local area.

Applications from suitable job seekers are then forwarded to the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator by Disability Employment Services providers. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator provides you (or your nominated recruitment contact) with details of the job seekers.

Once you have decided which of the job seekers you would like to interview, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator:

  • contacts and arranges your interview with the job seeker and relevant Disability Employment Services providers
  • notifies any job seekers you have decided not to interview.
  • Following the interviews, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator contacts you to discuss the results of the interview and to gain any feedback about the process.
