Auslan For Employment

Practical help is available to support new Deaf employees, and existing Deaf employees who use Auslan (Australian Sign Language) to communicate and whose continued employment is at risk.

The Auslan For Employment program maximises the ability and independence of Deaf new employees in a new job or Deaf existing employees whose continued employment is at risk.  The program also supports strong employment growth and the improved productive performance of enterprises within Australia.

Types of assistance

Auslan for Employment assistance consists of three levels:

  • Level 1: Auslan interpreting and Deaf Awareness training in the workplace for Deaf employees, including travel assistance for interpreters where eligible.
  • Level 2: Auslan interpreting for employment interviews for Deaf job seekers.
  • Level 3: Assistance for co-workers of Deaf employees to undertake studies in Certificate II Auslan (nationally recognised) courses.

You can apply for one or all of the three levels of assistance.
