The JobAccess program was recognised with a United Nations (UN) Public Service Award in the category of service delivery for the Asia/Pacific Region on Monday 23 June at the United Nations in New York.
The Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations was one of 12 around the world to receive the Public Service Award. The UN said "JobAccess has provided people with disability and/or mental illness with greater access to the job market through a one-stop information shop, including online application forms, a unique database of workplace adjustments and solutions and free expert telephone services".
This is a prestigious award which recognises the JobAccess service as best practice and reflective of the tremendous work JobAccess has undertaken since it commenced in July 2006.
The United Nations’ Public Service Awards recognise the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions to a more effective and responsive public administration worldwide.
