Australian Government employment service providers are available if you would like help to find a job. They can also help you develop your resume and prepare for interviews. Australian Government employment service providers include the Job Network, Disability Employment Network, Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Job Placement Organisations.
Disability Employment Network
Disability Employment Network members are specialists in helping people with disability prepare for, find and keep a job. They can also help you if you need ongoing support at work.
Disability Employment Network members provide a range of specialist services individually tailored to meet your employment needs. Services include:
- help to prepare for work, including training in specific job skills
- job search support, such as resume development, interview skills training and help to look for suitable jobs
- support when first placed into a job, including on the job training and support for your co-workers and employers
- ongoing support in a job if you need it
- vocational training and other assistance.
Vocational Rehabilitation Services
Vocational Rehabilitation Services provide a comprehensive intervention, combining specialist rehabilitation with employment assistance to help people with disability, injury or a health condition to find or keep a job.
The type of help included in a job seeker’s vocational rehabilitation program will vary depending on individual needs. Services can include a range of assessments, disability management, counselling services and help with job search and employment placements, including work experience.
Job Network
Job Network members help job seekers find work. They look at your needs and employment barriers and then develop and work through a personalised Job Search Plan until you are placed in a job.
Job Network can help you:
- develop your resume
- apply for jobs
- improve your interview skills
- promote your skills to employers
- build your self confidence.
The type and amount of help provided by a Job Network member varies depending on your individual barriers to employment.
Job Placement Services
Job Placement Organisations match your skills against vacancies, refer you to suitable vacancies and, if you are successful, place you in a job. They are licensed to use one of Australia’s largest online jobs databases, Australian JobSearch, to record vacancies and find suitable job seekers.
Job Placement Services are free to job seekers registered with Centrelink as looking for work.
Many Job Placement Organisations are private recruitment firms that work with employers in particular industries. They can also be Job Network members, Disability Employment Network members, Indigenous Employment Centres or Australian Apprenticeship Centres.
