Applying for Auslan For Employment

This guide provides step by step instructions on how to apply for funding through the Auslan for Employment programme, including use of our secure online application forms.

Step 1—Identify the appropriate level of assistance

Auslan for Employment assistance consists of three levels:

  • Level 1: Auslan interpreting and Deaf Awareness training in the workplace for Deaf employees, including travel assistance for interpreters where eligible.
  • Level 2: Auslan interpreting for employment interviews for Deaf job seekers.
  • Level 3: Assistance for co-workers of Deaf employees to undertake studies in Certificate II Auslan (nationally recognised) courses.

You can apply for one or all of the three levels of assistance. 

Step 2—Read the Auslan For Employment Guidelines

The Auslan For Employment Guidelines contain detailed information on the programme including eligibility. You should read the Guidelines to determine whether you are eligible to apply and whether your employees are eligible to benefit from the assistance.

Step 3—Apply online

Applying for Auslan For Employment funding is easy!

To apply for funding you will need to log on to the secure JobAccess site and complete an online application form.  We have developed detailed instructions to assist you with the process:

Step 4—Outcome of your application

The JobAccess Advisers will:

  • process your online application
  • approve or decline your application
  • advise you of the outcome of your application.

If your application for funding is approved continue to Step 5. If your application for funding is not approved and you wish to discuss the decision further please contact the JobAccess Advisers on 1800 464 800.

Step 5—Claim for payment

Once the interpreting or training services have been approved by the JobAccess Advisers and you have purchased the services, you can claim for payment by submitting a tax invoice and evidence of expenditure for each of the approved items. The tax invoice and evidence of expenditure should be mailed or faxed to:
