Telephone volume controls

Some telephones offer the choice of increasing the volume of the call to help you hear the person you are speaking to more clearly. If your phone has a hands-free button you should also be able to turn up the volume of these calls. Some phones also include a separate amplification button which means you can boost the volume even more (British Telecommunications (BT) 2008).

Workplace solutions and adjustments

Setting telephone volume controls to a suitable level for an individual may assist people who are hard of hearing to be able to use a telephone for work purposes (Job Accommodation Network 2007).
