Managing emotions at work

Understanding and reassurance in the workplace can provide employees with a disability greater success in terms of managing inappropriate emotions associated with their condition. Recognising that there is often additional stress, frustration and anxiety linked with coping with a disability is important. Furthermore, being aware that a lack of control of emotions is often symptomatic of cognitive impairment and mental illness can also be helpful for others at work.

Workplace solutions and adjustments

Together with the need for understanding and awareness regarding disability and associated emotions in the workplace, there are a range of specific strategies and support services available which can assist both managers and supervisors, as well as workers themselves in achieving better control over emotions at work (so as not to compromise team work, safety, co worker morale and productivity).
