Learning and applying knowledge

The ability to understand and follow instructions as well as learn, maintain and apply skills and knowledge are all very important aspects of work. It is important to recognise that those with a cognitive impairment such as an intellectual or specific learning disability may experience difficulty in one or more of these areas, often as a result of impaired language and communication skills (that is, not intentional). Furthermore, without adequate support and assistance these difficulties can potentially lead to increased stress, social withdrawal and poor work performance.

Workplace solutions and adjustments

There are a range of strategies, products and support services available which can greatly assist those who may experience difficulty in these areas within the workplace.
