The following schemes are available to help you with wages when employing people with disability:
Supported Wage System
The Supported Wage System is a process that allows employers to pay less than the award wage by matching a person's productivity with a fair wage. Eligible people with disability can choose to access a reliable productivity-based wage assessment to determine fair pay for fair work.
The Supported Wage System pays for independent assessors to conduct these wage assessments. This means that, as an employer, there is no cost to you. You may also be eligible to receive a one-off payment to help offset the cost of employing a new worker with disability.
Wage subsidies
Wage subsidies are payments made to you, the employer to assist with covering the cost of paying wages and training in the first few months of employment of a person with disability. They aim to increase the competitiveness of workers with disability.
