Safety vests are high visibility vests normally made from fluorescent fabric with reflective strips. They are provided to enhance the safety and visibility of the wearer, by reflecting light back towards the original light source. They are particularly useful in construction, industrial and warehousing environments where visibility of the wearer is essential for safety.
Safety vests are available in materials and designs for both day and night which make them visible in all light conditions. Safety vests are also available that reduce the effect of fire in high fire risk areas.
Workplace solutions and adjustments
The provision of safety vests should be part of an integrated organisational approach to occupational health and safety, and should be used to complement other control methods in the workplace.
