Digital read out monitors

Digital read out monitors allow people with a visual impairment to be able to obtain precise results without having to view them. For example, if an individual needs to take their blood pressure often with a digital machine and cannot view the results, they will be able to hear them, as the machine will verbalise the reading. There are various digital read out monitors available, some having both a visual display as well as an audio output.

Workplace solutions and adjustments

People with a visual impairment may find it difficult or be unable to read a digital display on standard monitoring equipment and may therefore benefit from a device that announces readings verbally. Some examples of digital read out monitors that may assist people with a visual impairment in the workplace include:

  • talking blood pressure monitors
  • talking weighing scales for the kitchen and bathroom
  • talking thermometers
  • talking food thermometers
  • talking tape measure
  • talking stop watch.
