Computer Aided Design, also knows as CAD, is a generic term referring to all computer aided design or computer assisted drafting software. It allows completion of 2D and 3D engineering designs and plans on a computer without the need to hand draw. CAD software can now be installed to run on most computers, however depending on the level of designs undertaken, specific computer hardware may also be required such as; a mouse, a high quality graphics monitor, a digitizing tablet, light pen and possibly a specialised printer.
Workplace solutions and adjustments
CAD software can be especially useful for architects, engineers or draftspeople who have difficulty writing or drawing by hand. Onscreen tools can manipulate designs for viewing such as zooming and rotating.
